The biggest name in Bracknell in the next six weeks is Romesh Ranganathan, who tries out new material at South Hill Park on Thursday 8 October. The biggest night out of doors is Bracknell Rugby Club’s fireworks at Lily Hill Park on Sunday 8 November, a date the club announced on 22 September. Between the two come half term, a Halloween trail, two home games for Bracknell Town and two more firework displays on Saturday 31 October.

A day’s racing followed by the display, whose start time the racecourse still lists as to be confirmed. Fireworks-only entry is from 4pm at £12 for adults and £5 for children aged five to 12.   • The Comedy Cellar, Every Friday to 11 December, doors 8pm, show 8.30pm, Cellar Bar, South Hill Park. £18.50. Four comedians a week in the club’s 40th anniversary season. It often sells out and the box office closes at 8.15pm. Age 18 and over. (South Hill Park)
  • Science discovery shows at The Look Out, Weekends at 11.30am, 2.30pm and 3.30pm; in school holidays at 10.45am, 11.45am, 12.45pm, 1.45pm and 2.45pm, The Look Out Discovery Centre, RG12 7QW. £2.30 a ticket. The Splash, Bubbles and Balloons Show, for four to 11 year olds, runs to Sunday 8 November. It is for visitors already booked into the science exhibition, and show times can change. Getting there

Most of this page happens at South Hill Park, Ringmead, RG12 7PA, in Birch Hill. Parking there is no longer free, and our page on South Hill Park parking charges has the tariff. Bracknell Town play at Bottom Meadow in Sandhurst, GU47 9BJ, and the club asks supporters to use Pyes Acre car park, GU47 9AH, a five-minute walk away, and not the side streets.
