Easthampstead Road shuts 8pm to 6am from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 September. Nightingale Crescent then closes for a fortnight from Monday 28 September.
Easthampstead Road closes overnight for three nights this week, between Downshire Way and Western Road, 8pm to 6am from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 September. It is the biggest job in the town this week, and it is followed on Monday by a fortnight-long closure of Nightingale Crescent.
This page is every Bracknell roadworks closure now on the council’s books, checked against its closure notices, its resurfacing programme, the National Highways closure report and National Rail on Tuesday 22 September 2026. Five things are worth knowing.
- The M4 is clear at junction 10 all week. The weekend closure between junctions 10 and 11 is finished, and the closure report lists nothing at the borough’s own motorway access for the next seven days.
- A329 Berkshire Way closes again tonight, 8pm to 6am, westbound from Doncastle roundabout as far as Vigar roundabout. It is the second of two nights, and it returns for one more on 30 September.
- Easthampstead Road closes 8pm to 6am on the nights of Wednesday 23, Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September, then goes to daytime stop and go boards on the 28th and 29th.
- Nightingale Crescent shuts for a fortnight from Monday 28 September to Monday 12 October, for gas works.
- There are no trains between Woking and Ascot on Sunday 27 September.
Bracknell was laid out as a new town, so its roads are a deliberate network: dual carriageways on the outside, roundabouts instead of junctions, and estates hung off distributor roads. That design is fast when it works and awkward when it does not, because closing one link usually means a diversion of two or three miles rather than a parallel street.
Berkshire Way tonight, and the diversion the council does not sign
The council’s road closures page books A329 Berkshire Way for 8pm to 6am on the nights of Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 September, and again on Wednesday 30 September. The first night has gone. The second is tonight.
The two council sources describe different lengths of road, and the notice page is the more precise of them. The resurfacing programme gives the site as Doncastle roundabout to the borough boundary. The notice page gives it as westbound from Doncastle roundabout to and including Vigar roundabout, and adds two things the programme leaves out: Vigar Way and the A329 eastbound approach to it are closed as well, and the westbound slip lane stays open.
The council publishes two diversions for it, and which one applies depends on how much of the road is shut on the night.
- The short diversion, for works between Doncastle roundabout and Vigar Way: Doncastle Road, Peacock Lane and Vigar Way.
- The full diversion, which the council says is needed when the Jennetts Park roundabout is closed: A329 Berkshire Way, A322 Downshire Way, A3095 Bagshot Road, A3095 Church Road, A329 Millennium Way, B3408 Wokingham Road and B3408 London Road.
The full route is the long way round the south and west of the town. Berkshire Way is the feeder to the A329(M), which is why the council resurfaces it at night rather than in the day. Tonight’s work is the planing and inlay; the 30 September night is markings and loop cutting.
Easthampstead Road, Wednesday to Friday nights
Easthampstead Road, between Downshire Way and Western Road, is booked in the resurfacing programme for planing off and inlay resurfacing under a road closure from Wednesday 23 September to Friday 25 September, 8pm to 6am. That is three working nights.
The job is not done when the resurfacing is. The programme then books road markings on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September as day work under stop and go boards, so expect delays rather than a closure on those two days.
The programme publishes no diversion for it. Neither does the notice page, which does not carry the job at all: resurfacing and closure notices are kept on separate council pages, and only the notice page gives diversions.
Nightingale Crescent closes for a fortnight
From Monday 28 September to Monday 12 October, Nightingale Crescent is closed in both directions for gas service transfers and replacements. At fifteen days it is much the longest closure in the borough at the moment. The council’s diversion is Harmans Water Road and Nightingale Crescent itself, using the part of the crescent that stays open.
Every closure now booked in the borough
Two council sources feed this table. The road closures notice page carries urgent repairs, utility and developer works, which appear at short notice. The resurfacing programme carries the planned inlay round, published months ahead and subject to Executive approval. The notice page is a live list, not an archive: entries disappear once their dates pass, so it shows what is on rather than what has finished.

Three of these are worth a second look.
The Close at Ascot, at the eastern end of the borough rather than in Bracknell itself, is shut from Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 September for water mains repairs. The council lists no diversion because it is a no through route.
Cain Road roundabout has not moved again. It slipped once, from 16 to 21 September to 30 September and 1 October, and the programme still gives those dates, with markings under a road closure on Friday 2 October. The council publishes no reason for the original change and no diversion for the job.
Western Road remains postponed with no new date, which it has been since before 11 September. All three of its entries in the programme, the resurfacing and both sets of markings, carry the same line: work postponed, new date to be announced.
The motorways this week
Bracknell has no motorway junction of its own, so the strategic network matters mainly at two points: the M4 at junction 10 via the A329(M), and the M3 at junction 3 via the A322 through Bagshot.
Both are clear. The National Highways closure report covering Monday 21 to Sunday 27 September lists no closure at M4 junction 10 or M3 junction 3 on any of the seven days. The SSEN overhead line work that shut the M4 between junctions 10 and 11 last weekend does not return.
What is booked, on the routes Bracknell drivers use once they are on the motorway:
- M4 eastbound, junction 8/9 to junction 7: closed 9pm to 6am tonight, Tuesday 22 September, for structures work. The A404(M) and A308(M) southbound are in the same closure. This is the Maidenhead to Slough stretch, so it is the London direction from junction 10.
- M4 westbound junction 1 to junction 3, and eastbound junction 3 to junction 1: the London end closes 10pm to 5:30am on the nights of Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September, with the diversion on local roads.
- M4 westbound junction 7 entry and exit slip roads: closed 9pm to 6am on Thursday 24 September for drainage work.
- M25 anticlockwise junction 15 to the M4 junction 4b slip and link roads: closed overnight from Tuesday to Friday, 10pm to 5:30am, and from 11pm on the Friday. That is the Heathrow corner, and it is the usual way round to the M40 and the north.
The closure report is reissued on working days, so a closure can be added after this page was checked.
The trains
Sunday 27 September: no trains between Woking and Ascot. National Rail says engineering work between Brookwood and Aldershot closes all lines, with buses replacing trains between Ascot and Guildford via Aldershot, and between Farnborough and Alton, all day.
That is the Ascot to Guildford branch rather than the Reading to Waterloo line through Bracknell, so Bracknell’s own service to London is not affected. The change matters if you use Ascot to get south towards Woking, Guildford or Farnham.
Nothing else is booked. Bracknell station’s own National Rail page carried no disruption or engineering work when this page was checked on Tuesday.
Where the diversions actually send you
The council publishes a diversion route with each closure on its notice page. The resurfacing programme does not carry diversions, so these are all there are.
- A329 Berkshire Way, tonight and 30 September: Doncastle Road, Peacock Lane and Vigar Way for the short closure; A329 Berkshire Way, A322 Downshire Way, A3095 Bagshot Road, A3095 Church Road, A329 Millennium Way, B3408 Wokingham Road and B3408 London Road when Jennetts Park roundabout is shut.
- Nightingale Crescent, 28 September to 12 October: Harmans Water Road and Nightingale Crescent.
- Ryehurst Lane, Binfield, 17 to 23 October: B3018 Church Lane and Stubbs Hill.
The Close at Ascot is a no through route, so the council says no diversion applies. Easthampstead Road, Hawkins Close and Cain Road roundabout are resurfacing jobs, and the programme publishes no diversion for any of them.
The roads that carry the traffic
Everything funnels onto a handful of routes, and knowing which one a closure pushes you onto is most of the battle.
- A329(M) is the town’s motorway link, running north west from the Coppid Beech end of the borough to Reading and the M4 at junction 10. Anything on the A329 Berkshire Way between Doncastle roundabout and the boundary is the feeder to it, which is why that road is resurfaced overnight rather than in the day.
- A322 runs north to south through the west of the town as Downshire Way and Bagshot Road, and carries on to the M3 at junction 3 near Bagshot. It is the route for Guildford, Woking and the south coast.
- A329 London Road is the old east to west road, through the town centre towards Ascot one way and Wokingham the other.
- A3095 Mill Lane and Crowthorne Road run south from Twin Bridges towards Crowthorne, Sandhurst and Camberley, past the Look Out and Coral Reef.
- B3430 Nine Mile Ride cuts west from Crowthorne towards Wokingham and Finchampstead, and is the access road for Swinley Forest and the Look Out.
The named roundabouts worth knowing, because closure notices assume you do: Twin Bridges, Coppid Beech, Hanworth, Great Hollands, Doncastle, Vigar, Cain Road and Brookers Corner at Crowthorne.
Parking in the town centre
Braccan Walk, at 356 spaces, is the borough’s benchmark tariff. It is open 24 hours, though the lifts close between 9pm and 8am.

Three things the signs do not shout about. Bank holidays are charged at normal rates. There are no free concessions for Blue Badge holders in any council charging car park. And motorcycle parking is free, on the ground floor, 14 bays taking two bikes each. The height restriction is 2 metres.
The other town centre options are The Avenue multi-storey, Albert Road (194 spaces), Behind the Banks (27 spaces) and Wick Hill. Season tickets are available, and residents can apply for one on proof of address.
