A professional Muay Thai fighter from Bracknell is due in the ring in London on 8 November, against an opponent from Greece, and is asking businesses in the town to put their name behind the fight.

Izzi, who trains and coaches in Fleet and posts as @fit.izz_ on Instagram, wrote to Bracknell Online on Tuesday 22 September looking for local sponsors. The email is the source for everything below, and the words are quoted as they were sent.

The fighter, in their own words

“I’m Izzi, a local professional Muay Thai kick-boxer from Bracknell, training and coaching in Fleet. I’m currently the WMO International Champion and ranked

8 in the WMO world rankings.”

“I have an upcoming fight on 8 November in London, where I’ll be competing against an international opponent from Greece.”

The WMO title and the world ranking are the fighter’s own account. We have not seen a sanctioning body’s published ranking list or a result sheet, and the email does not name the venue, the promotion or the opponent, so at this stage the date and the city are all that is fixed for anyone hoping to watch.

What is being asked for

“As a local athlete, I’d love the opportunity to represent and work alongside businesses from Bracknell and the surrounding area as I continue competing professionally.”

“I’ve put together a short sponsorship proposal with a little more about me, my upcoming fight and some of the ways we could work together. If this is something you might be interested in, I’d love to send it over.”

That proposal has not been sent to us, so we cannot say what a sponsor would be asked for or what would come back: kit, corner branding, social posts or something else. A business that wants to see it has to ask.

What it means for you

• If you run a business in Bracknell, Crowthorne, Sandhurst, Binfield or Warfield and want the proposal, the contact route given to us is the Instagram account @fit.izz_. Ask for the numbers and the deliverables in writing before you commit to anything, as you would with any sponsorship.
• If you just want to watch, hold on. There is no venue, no promotion and no ticket link yet. When those are published we will add them here.
• Bracknell Online has no commercial interest in this. We were sent a sponsorship approach rather than a press release, and we are running it because a fighter from the town has a professional bout coming up, not because anyone has paid for it. Nothing here is a recommendation to spend money.
