Sixteen of the 17 food hygiene ratings Bracknell Forest gave in September were the top score of 5. No business in the borough is rated 0; nine sit at 1 or 2.
Sixteen of the 17 food hygiene ratings dated September in Bracknell Forest are the top score of 5. The other one is a 4. Not one business inspected last month came out below that.
The figures come from the Food Standards Agency’s ratings register for Bracknell Forest, which we read on Friday 9 October. The register shows each business’s latest rating only, so a business inspected in September and visited again since would not appear here.
That is a higher share of fives than July or August, and just behind June:
- June: 23 ratings, 22 of them a 5
- July: 21 ratings, 16 of them a 5, and one 1
- August: 14 ratings, seven of them a 5, with one 3 and one 2
- September: 17 ratings, 16 of them a 5
The September fives
School and nursery kitchens make up almost half the list. Seven of the 16 top scores went to places that feed children.

The one 4 went to Bracknell Halal Meat at 2 Market Street, on 2 September. A 4 means “good” on the agency’s scale, one step below the top.

A rating describes the business on the day of the inspection. Some of these dates are more than a year old, and a business may have improved since. The only way the register changes is a new inspection.
What it means for you
- Check before you book. Every business above links to its own page on the Food Standards Agency register, which also breaks the score down into food handling, the building, and how the business manages food safety.
- Do not rely on the window sticker. In England, showing the rating is voluntary. A business with a low score does not have to put it on the door.
- School and nursery kitchens are on the register too. If your child eats at one, you can look it up the same way.
Businesses have rights under the scheme. The agency’s guidance for businesses says an owner can appeal in writing within 21 days of being told the rating. An owner can also publish a right to reply at any time before the next inspection. And once the improvements are made, they can ask for a revisit to be re-rated, with no deadline.
Any business named here that has been re-inspected, or wants its reply noted, can contact us at hello@bracknellonline.co.uk and we will update this page.
